Project Overview
This is a cross-disciplinary innovation project: where underwater photographers meet marine biologists. Using WordPress as the platform foundation, we integrated Google Vertex AI's image recognition capabilities to build a marine citizen science data collection system. Underwater photographers simply upload their photos, and the AI automatically identifies the marine species in each image, structuring the results into the database to assist researchers in ecological surveys and data analysis. This project demonstrates that WordPress is not just a blogging tool — it can serve as a technology platform for serious applications.
